Look, I just tried what you're saying, and I can see that it sort of
works, but not really: it's fine as long as you're typing only in
English or only in Hebrew, but as soon as you want to mix languages
within a paragraph, it breaks down. I would be surprised if it weren't
that way.
AFAIK, you're supposed to be using the language commands to switch
languages, and that's what F12 gives you. In addition, Dekel's
instructions, which I still more or less follow, set up the keymap so
that you don't need to switch languages at the keyboard level. I prefer
that, because switching at the keyboard level affects all applications
--- so if I'm typing LyX in Hebrew, and then switch to my email, I find
myself to still be in Hebrew. When using the keymap, I don't have this
problem. Either way, I think that just switching at the keyboard without
using the language commands is wrong, I'm surprised we get as far as
we do without it.
I also tried the math cut & paste, but I can't reproduce your bug no
matter what. Can anyone else confirm the problem that Elazar is seeing
with cut & paste in RTL math? This is starting to remind me of the
troubles we were seeing a few months back, where some of us could see
Hebrew find and others couldn't. That time, it turned out to have to do
with the locale environment variables. What locale do you have set up?
(You can type 'env | grep LC' to find out). Also, you are using a recent
version out of SVN, right? I can't think of anything else that might
cause this, at the moment...

the keyboard, and type in English? and then switch back, etc.? Never

correct?

anything to be setted any further, as far as I understand.
Try to recreate the bug w/o F12. BTW my patch needs to be applied
nevertheless, it affects only mathematics and has no other negative
effects (The last patch, not the first one).

I think you should still be using F12 to switch between languages. The
main thing that that does is not to set the keyboard input, but also
tell latex about the language change. Have you been able to generate
latex output without using F12 up until now?
