Yes, I guessed it was something in the title. OTOH on the LyX screen it 
looked perfectly OK but maybe the case was that a new author environment
was started (by mistake) and then the TOC put inside it (just trying to
imagine what was done when the document was created).

Well actually LaTeX didn't even crash on the machines I tested it on.
It continued running in the background using up all CPU time but without
getting anywhere.

I guess this has been asked before, but shouldn't the LaTeX processing at
least run in a different process (with a LyX dialog to explain what's
happening) and then still allow editing to continue while the processing
is going on?

Damn, suomalaisia listalla. Artikkelin kirjoittaja valitteli, etta kieli
