I got a chance to look into this today.
It was pretty easy to make my spec file relocatable, actually.
After I do:
rpm --prefix /usr/local -Uvh lyx-1.0.3-5.i386.rpm
I can run lyx installed in /usr/local/bin and it works fine.
I attach the lyx.spec file for inclusion into the CVS tree.
The rebuilt (relocatable) RPM files for LyX-1.0.3 and LyX-1.0.4pre1
are now at ftp://ftp.sylvan.com/pub/lyx if anyone wants to try them
out or if you want to put it on the LyX download area.
