I assume 'the same thing as with 14.04.1 LTS after the system updates'.
So I booted my IBM Thinkcentre with Lubuntu 14.10 from a live-USB. It
works, so it is not affected by this bug.

change that made your machine work, and I tried the same change, and it
had no effect on my machine.
I am glad that your machine works - that is a good thing.
But I am not imagining this, and I cannot (so far) get around the problem.
