With regards to including GPlates on OSGeo-Live for 9.5. One thing that other projects have done in the past is take a couple of releases to get included. For the first time, the installer is included (but not executed), or included and executed (such that the application is installed), but not made publicly visible till a future release. This gives GPlates the opportunity to try out the install process, without a strict deadline to get things running. This might be a path for GPlates to consider?
