if you have 512MB RAM, you can try both Mint Main and Light editions.
If you want to use VirtualBox, you'll be able to use 256MB RAM for VM,
but it is not recommended. If you work on only the virtual machine,
you won't be in much trouble though.

This time your SWAP drive would come in handy. Keep at least 512MB to
1GB SWAP partition.

Try to increase the RAM if possible.
