hi everybody,

i would like to know the best way to assign different partitions sizes in
linux (apart from swap & / i.e. /apps, /etc, ....). also why is it necessary
to assign these partitions? do they improve the performance of linux? & how?

i have a 20 gb hard disk. do i partition my windows side as 12 gb (primary)&
4 gb (extended)or in short partitions. i.e. 2 gb as primary & the rest as
2.5 gb extended logical. if the later option is good then why is it so?

shree
