Discussions divert to other topics on the Internet just like in face-to-face discussions. That's life, and I don't find it a bad fact about us humans. I personally found both the discussion about Ubuntu (which didn't start from its suitability as a development station, but has diverted into that sub-topic too), and the discussion about Windows security and Microsoft's security practices, interesting and welcome here. (Given that most of previous discussions died pretty quickly and tended to be less interesting.)
