No experience with dell or linux I'm afraid. I did order a thinkpad (t61) from
lenovo USA which was hustle free except for the time it takes to ship (only
in the states) and cheaper than Israel by about 20% (although they did charge
tax for some reason). There was also an option to order it with linux, don't
remember about no operating system (you can start an order on the site and see
what the options are) but it takes longer to ship, at least formally (they over
estimate the time to ship, probably to be safe). I got it with vista (home)
just because I was short on time and couldn't afford to chance it the shipping
time.

As for warranty, the one before that (almost the same) I got from B&H new york.
Also got a mac camera international warranty but it turned out to be a waste of
money since IBM Israel fixed it under their own extended warranty (turns out
that the 3 year warranty is international). Took a week, (because I dropped
it in Haifa and the shop is in Givat Shmuel I think), they didn't care about
the operating system (it had linux). Not sure what would happen though if
they need to turn it on to test it ... Note that that model is also listed on
their site as selling in Israel, the current one isn't so I don't know if they
will cover this one (check the model number), hope I don't need to find out.
