Linux is harder, but if you have your favorite Linux distribution you will probably want to install it anyway. Linux support is practically non-existent. I'm guessing that the whole idea was to get the point through and not to actually make any money off it, I doubt that it will be worth much due to expenses and will take a lot of hassle, although it depends on your preferred laptop. At least at ivory you can get msi and dell with freedos (don't know if they have gigabyte). Doesn't look like you can get a thinkpad without windows vista though.
