Since you mention it there is another option which sometimes might be
better: while you and your supporter communicate over your mobile phone
the supporter will have a shell access with mgetty or similar
application. Makes it easier to inspect the logs and, in general,
determine what is going on. The mobile phone conversation might be
replaced with talk to make it cheaper.
