I have a samsung modem that uses pppOe and recently after 3 days to a week it suddenly get stuck somehow and you need to reset it manualy(pull out the power plug), because it can't be reached anymore(doesn't return pings). the strange error message i get from the pppoe client is : "pppoe[25831]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets"
also, what is that keepalive option? i checked the pppd man page and it doesn't specifically says keepalive. did u mean persist? or lcp-echo-interval or something? 10x. * - * - * Tzahi Fadida [EMAIL PROTECTED] Technion Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] My Cool Site: HTTP://WWW.My2Nis.Com * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * WARNING TO SPAMMERS: see at http://members.lycos.co.uk/my2nis/spamwarning.html > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Dani Arbel > Sent: Monday, December 30, 2002 8:20 AM > To: Elie > Cc: linux ILUG > Subject: Re: random adsl disconnect > > > Hi! > Are you using PPTP or PPPoE ? > If you use adjust tcp mss in for the ppp interface you need not change any > other MTU > Lately, bezeq recommands using ppp keep alive with the Samsung PPPoE modem > Dani > > On Monday 30 December 2002 01:46, Shaul Karl wrote: > > On Sun, Dec 29, 2002 at 09:06:23PM +0200, Elie wrote: > > > I have been running my adsl connection on my linux box for only a few > > > days.
