I believe you make a good case for people discussing-together-in person. As I have suggested before, organize an event and invite the public to participate. Host it at the library, or Bemis Hall. Usually refreshments are serves-a little sugar can help. Make a it true conversation….face to face. Human beings sharing space and time and trying to understand each other.
You re encouraged to come and debate, face to face, with the speakers you say you disagree with. It would be a much better way to educate us than this digital arena. The digital space dehumanizes us. We need the human experience to be in person. We have seen how social media has fractured us. Let us not contribute anymore to that. That is why I continue to encourage all to attend events and listen and question and reach their own conclusions. We have Town Meeting in person, so that neighbors can hear each other, and speak and question- if we are all together in the same space, we all can hear the same presentation and each others questions. We may interpret what we hear differently, but we share that space. It is a good tradition.
