Thank you, that's just what I needed.
I've "successfully" imported some MIDI files into LY format, and I started using the excellent emacs LilyPond mode. Very cool. Not so much success with abc2ly and musedata2ly, and I haven't figured out how to activate the LP mode in vi.
Back to the hack...
