I think we should, if possible. favour consistency — although it has been said that “a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”. I also think we should, if possible, favour terminology that is understood as quickly as possible by the greatest number of users — although that argument admits at least some degree of ad populum fallaciousness. If those two positions were circles on a Venn diagram, what would be the intersection?
