You're only using it for automatic numbering, so it could be incorporated into the markup command instead. If you still think it's necessary though, you need to rethink the way the whiteout's being applied; currently, you're applying `stencil-whiteout' to the evaluated markup, then setting 'text to the new value. You can't do this since it's a property type mismatch: 'text expects markup, not a stencil.
