--- Comment #3 from Takenori Yasuda <[email protected]> --- I understand the motivation from a language learning perspective, as well as the intention to support pronunciation with ruby text. However, from the perspective of a native Japanese speaker, this proposal appears to involve a significantly higher level of complexity than it might initially seem. As an example, consider the following sentence: "今日は4月1日日曜日。日下部さん、四月一日さんと三人で、日光浴をしてきた。一日中していたせいか、酷い日焼けをしてしまった。ただ、楽しかったため、後日日本橋でまた会う約束をした。" Even within this short passage, the same character ("日") has multiple different readings depending on context. It also includes cases such as jukujikun (e.g. 今日), context-dependent readings (e.g. 一日), and proper nouns (e.g. 日下部). Handling such cases both automatically and accurately would likely require more than a simple dictionary-based approach. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
