            Bug ID: 171546
           Summary: FEATURE REQUEST
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.2.2.2 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
User Story:
As a foreign language learner I need to add an automated "ruby text" printed
above above a foreign language, like chinese Hanzi or other non-western scripts
to display the pronounciation, like pinyin for chinese, or kiragana over kanji
of a single character or set of characters.
I propose, not only to offer pinyin but a rubytext button in General for all
languages, to support each others understanding.

Therefore, I propose to add a feature to Libre Office, the built/in ruby-text
data base, should be easily manually enhanced or altered, and could be updated
per language.

I also want to propose a further enhancement, that even Microsoft word does not
address.
Some characters or set of characters change their pronounciation, if combined
with other characters.

Example: 银行 where 行 is pronounced hang and 行李箱, where 行 is pronounced xing.
Libre Office only shows "hang".

Example German "Ende" where first character pronounced e, but Eisen, where
first character changed to be pronounced as a.

Example English as well: "ea", different pronounced in heard, heart, ear,
smear.... a really drastic example of ambiguous context/word-dependend
pronounciation.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.enter Hanzi using OS embedded pinyin in Writer
2.select pinyin-Assistant (Button)
3.Maintain ruby text

Actual Results:
Example: 银行 where 行 is pronounced hang and 行李箱, where 行 is pronounced xing.
Libre Office only showe "hang".

Expected Results:
for 行 I expect either a dictionary based proposal by word usage or a proposal
to select from existing variants, here hang/xing.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
If such happens, the user should be given a selection of applicable "ruby
texts". The same feature you can easily see with the pinyin input method in
Android or Windows etc.

This would enhance acceptance in other (asean) countries and push the usability
as tool for language learning documentation.
