Hi folks,
LFS-6.1.1 is nearly upon us. With that in mind, I'd like to outline
what I'd like to see happen on trunk before we branch for our first
gcc-4.x based release.
1) Merge the alphabetical build order branch. If nothing else, this
helps us explain why we build things in the order we do (i.e. fix bug
684). Thanks to Chris Staub's analyses, the dependencies listed against
each package will be more accurate too.
2) Bring udev in line with upstream recommended practices, including
dropping the hotplug package. I'll be creating a branch for this in due
course, though I think proper handling of the input subsystem is still
dependent on linux-2.6.15.
If anyone wants any other features included now's the time to get those
requests in. At the moment, I'm considering branching off for
stabilisation in around 4 weeks time (though with that being very close
to Christmas, it may slip a little). Only time will tell if that
schedule's too ambitious, but at least it gives us something to aim for.
Regards,
Matt.
