Whoa!!! You're dead right!
Somehow, I had a table where Leic & QPR both had 50 pts ................I've no idea where I got that from! OK.............so 49 pts might just do it. Jeez, this is gut-wrenching! I wish we could just play these bloody 3 games in 3 days and know one way or the other! Back to the cricket.................can't agree that the World Cup is the "premier competition in cricket." How could that be when it is so poorly administered, full of completely insignificant games played in empty stadia? The whole thing is either a farcical shambles or a shambolic farce (can't decide which). Test cricket (and esp The Ashes) is far and away the pinnacle of the sport. ________________________________ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2007 10:07 AM To: Robert HEATH; [email protected] Subject: Re: [LU] Away from the cricket...... >>I think Leicester are pretty much an irrelevance. Even if they don't get another point, we have to win 2 of our last 3 to catch them.................and I think if we do that we'll be safe whatever.<< Check the table again, Robert. They're two points ahead of us, same number of games played. One win would put us ahead of them. >>The real reasons for the pathetic performance were the greed and stupidity of the administrators in expecting these players to keep traveling all over the world and playing nonstop cricket. They're dead on their feet.<< Agree that the adminsitrators of English cricket are greedy and stupid, but in a different way. The crap standard of the county system is the root of our problem - that and a failure by the ECB to recognise that the premier competition in Cricket - the world cup - is the "slogball" version! One-day cricket has moved on through genuine innovators (eg Sri Lanka) - England still play the game as it was played in the 70s.
