The basic answer to this is that everyone has their price.

Given a choice Blackwell would not have sold Hulse, but when the offer was
upped to £2.1m it meant they believed the money could be used to get a
suitable replacement AND have extra left to fund other purchases.

Im sure if someone had offered £2.1m for Moore we would have sold him and
not Hulse!

Im sure Tottenham selling Carrick was a 'master stroke of genius' too.  

At all levels in the game sometimes first choice players are sold, it’s a
fact of footballing life, and something that you shouldn’t need explaining.

No doubt we're tracking a 'better' player and this is a stop gap
measure...

I don't think he's that bad, for the record. Just that it's a bit odd
and what direction are we headed in this season?
