However, there is a slight difference between the market rate for a below
average Prem player (Hulse) and that for an average Prem/England player.

I would say Sheff Utd paid slightly under the odds and MU Waaay way over the
odds.

No doubt you will say market forces dictate the rate and the going rate is the
going rate they go for but that's bollocks.

Anyone who thinks £18.6m (or whatever) is a good price for Carrick, is a Spurs
fan. The kid went for £2.75m not 2 seasons ago. No sane person at Spurs
wouldn't accept that offer. They probably wouldn't sell at £10m but why would
you, you'd have to replace him like for like?

Which brings us back to Horsefield/Hulse.

The basic answer to this is that everyone has their price.

Given a choice Blackwell would not have sold Hulse, but when the offer was
upped to £2.1m it meant they believed the money could be used to get a suitable
replacement AND have extra left to fund other purchases.

Im sure if someone had offered £2.1m for Moore we would have sold him and not
Hulse!

Im sure Tottenham selling Carrick was a 'master stroke of genius' too.

At all levels in the game sometimes first choice players are sold, it's a fact
of footballing life, and something that you shouldn't need explaining.

>>>Horsefield * And that nicely plugs the gap up front for us.<<<

The gap we created by selling one of out best/better players?

I suppose this is another KB master stroke of genius.

No doubt we're tracking a 'better' player and this is a stop gap measure...

I don't think he's that bad, for the record. Just that it's a bit odd and what
direction are we headed in this season?
