No idea of the accuracy of this, but...

"The club have been paying off contracts to eight players who signed
deals when Leeds were flying high in the Premiership and most of those
come to an end next month. This includes the £20,000 a week we are
currently paying to Robbie Fowler, who was offloaded to Manchester City
on a wage-share deal in January 2003, but that arrangement comes to an
end on July 1 when his Leeds contract would have expired. Payments to
Robbie Keane, Michael Duberry, Nick Barmby and Danny Mills will also
finish. That leaves Gary Kelly and Eirik Bakke as the last two players
on lucrative contracts from the Premiership era, and their deals both
have 12 months left to run, and are worth an estimated £1.25m each."
