Do you lot want to go up next year or not? Chances are that any new manager will want to change a lot of the side, and definitely the backroom staff. That means accepting that next season will be a 'transition' season.
I want us to get promoted next season. It doesn't take much in the way of on-field improvement to attain that goal - getting 18 points off the bottom 3 sides would do it. The fact it is a stronger championship next year I think is a benefit. Firstly we tend to play better against the top sides, secondly it means it should be less likely for a team to run away with it at the start of the season, let alone two teams like Reading and Sheff Utd as happened last season. We effectively had little or no chance of automatic promotion by Christmas, barring a super-fantastic run. Basically next year is our year, its shit or bust, I don't want us to take any steps back if it jeopardises that. If by xmas we are totally off the pace then changing manager at that stage is ok, and still should give the new manager a chance to get us up via the playoffs and a honeymoon period. A quick question for all the stattos - how many managers have got a team promoted in their first season as manager? > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:leedslist- > [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 22 May 2006 14:56 > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [LU] Where now? > > >Well, having spent the season.... > > Yeah, what Tim said....
