Well, having spent the season agreeing with many of Rich Walkers game observations but completely disagreeing with his "Blackwell out NOW" stance and advocating a more broad minded approach. The end of the season has arrived. The time I've always said is the time for any changes if necessary. As one of the 40 odd thousand unfortuante enough to have wasted a day of their life and a lot of money and effort securing tickets I have to say I now agree with Rich. My point all season has been that in the grand scheme of things we've bounced back up from what is, hopefully, the bottom. We got to the final and IMHO it was time for Blackwell to prove himself. He didn't. He didn't even come close. I've never been PRO Blackwell, merely trying to say "Give him a chance, we're better than we were" Which we are, but it's not enough. Watford are, essentially, a long ball team and to counter that with a 5 man midfield, which they will punt over the top of (And they did) AND basically bypass them ourselves (Which we did), hoping one man can take on 4, was an act of gross stupidity. If, as Bates suggests, anything above 10th in the League and a 3rd round exit from both cups is a bonus then we'll have a couple of million to spend next season and I would not want it to be wasted, it is key we get the right men in the right places. I pointed out to a mate of mine (Man City fan) that the Premiership next season looks the poorest on record, not necessarily from a footballing point of view, but as a spectacle. Fulham, Portsmouth, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, Reading & now Watford all pull 25,000 or less average gates and hardly inspire the neutral to watch games. Allied to that the strength of teams now in the Championship and having wacthed them all season, I can't see any way forward other than to get a new manager in during the close season. Who??? I have no idea. As for Blackwell, I keep hearing how he is one of the most qualified coaches in Europe and have nothing against the guy, I would be happy to see him take up the mantle of 1st team COACH, but after yesterdays shocker, he's finally convinced me, he's no MANAGER.
