This was a funny sort of game. We totally dominated the first half, Bakke and Derry combining well to run the midfield and Miller popping up here there and everywhere spraying passes about, but, as has been the case for most of the season, we were unable to create any clear cut chances and couldn't take any of the half chances we got.
A lot of this was down to Lewis, the attacking half of our comedy left side duo. I lost count of the number of times he was free in space but failed to make the most of the opportunities.
Why does a left footed player, given the chance to take the ball to the line and cross with his left foot, so often stop and bring the ball inside on his weak right foot? It isn't because he can beat his full back and go in on goal because he hasn't got the bleeding skill.
Why, when Miller and others play the ball into space for him to run on to, is he the only one in the ground not to realise that the pass was coming, jumping like a shot rabbit and starting to chase it when it's already running out of play or the defender's got back to clear it?
Why does this allegedly excellent crosser of a ball either fail to clear the first defender or put the ball into touch on the far side of the field so many times? USless Arsehole!
Kevin said he'd left him out for the last few games because he's been playing continuously for the last two years and needed a rest. I'd like to suggest another rest for him until somewhere around 2010.
Crewe came more into the game in the second half. They are a neat passing side, trying to play football all the time, and if they hadn't have been even worse than us in the penalty area we could have been beaten by them again.
Things perked up a bit when Steve Stone made his belated Leeds debut to a rapturous reception and proceded to show us what we have been missing all season. What a class act he looked.
It was his pass that put Gary Kelly away down the right 15 minutes from time and Kelly at last produced the perfect cross to find Healey in space. Healey guided a neat header across the keeper into the far corner of the net. Job done and three points but God what hard work they made of it, in spite of some excellent football played, especially in the first half.
Sorry Phill, but I've got to mention Gary Kelly being voted the YEP player of the season and being presented with the trophy at the start of the game. It wasn't you I saw biting lumps out of your programme as he accepted the award was it?
