thanks everyone for your ideas! Brad funny you should mention DOS, their order entry/invoicing is twenty 100-400MHz pentiums 4meg ram vga running 6.22 with peer to peer little big lan 10baseT and xbase. 7am-6pm six days a week and they never quit! A dozen 2GB windows machines on a 100baseT do internet and windoz apps and they lock up all the time!
no need to change the tvs100 and we have a formatted spare hd for it. both cabs are full out with did, cid, 20 co's(+4did), 64 sta's, a bunch of dss for speed dial buttons (remember that -3 to -4 "upgrade" ;-) it is possible they will outgrow this config, but we're ready for that, just add a another master/slave for dept 2, and let dept 1 have the orig m/s. (fyi, dept 3 is on a m/s with a tvs-50 ;-) if this happens, everything goes to -6 because the money will be there! "The 1232 is capable of T1, 24 pots max"- try 24 ds0's and 8pots (=32 co's), you never used a 187 card, the ds0 channels are screwed up and doesn't support TR-0008! the PRI card has it's own set of problems. the 187 is framed, on my office wall to remind me of the hundreds of hours that pos cost us, not counting the $8K of channel bank stuff in the warehouse to support it. at least we didn't loose the customer. pano doesn't do standards very well. i can add much more battery, but i'm at limit with building codes for outgassing and acid spills, expensive vents and drains. 18 story building, has a 100kva emergency plant, but everyone else thinks they should have a connection too ;-) we figure 3 year growth on our installs, which usually coincides with their lease. besides, if they outgrow much earlier, they can afford the ksu swap. Tim the tvs100 is doing fine, it's just vm, no aa. just that it can't talk to sta's on the slave when it's out of sync. thank god all the co's and sta's still work within each cab, and the dept's don't share co's, otherwise this install would have been history 4 years ago. half of our m/s installs are still running P101E (-1) and with 1 hr bbu they work great, it's just this one install with all the sta programming that's a real bear to get restarted. in fact, it is impossible to sync without pulling the 25 pair connector we added that has all the co's to both cabs.
