You'll always find people ready to sell you something new. The thing to
consider is what are your needs and what is your budget.

I get people calling sometimes who are expanding their business, and already
spending $100-200,000 on new stuff (new vehicles, new office, new furniture,
whatever) and they want to include a new phone system in the package. Their
reasons might be as follows:
a. they are tired of looking at the old phones (maybe they're beat up and
dirty)
b. they had difficulty with the old system (usually because it wasn't
programmed well)
c. they really, really want a few new features that the old system didn't
have
d. they want a "fresh" start and don't mind spending the money
e. they can't find good support for the old system
Some combination of the above coupled with a good loan from the bank... and
a new system looks tempting.

Otherwise, if you find the right source for your parts and tech support (as
Carl said, see Joe Childs at austintel ) you can keep your existing system
going for a long time.
