Speaking on Deep Background, the Press Secretary whispered:

> I got my LD down to 4.25 cents per minute, with no monthly charge and
> something like 8.9% USF for interstate calls. A $3K expansion buys a lot
> of calls.

Let me expound more.

1) "A direct CT1/PRI is better than an ugly channel back hack.."

2) "A direct scheme may not be cost effective in any specific case,
esp. in the short term."

Both the above can be true. #1 is an engineering statement;
#2 a beancounter one.

If you go for the channel back; be sure it supplies supervision, ie
CPC. This means when a call is abandoned by the far end, the loop
current generated by the channel bank is pulsed to zero for ~~500ms.

Note that in general CT1 will not get you CNID.
