You can carry in a laptop, or leave an old slow PC connected in the
phone room, or use 4-pair wire for remote programming. See diagram at
www.ablecomm.com/before.htm

You can put the VPS near a PC so it's easy to program whenever you want
to. All you need is one wire pair form the VPS to the 308.
