My guess is that removing even 5 to 10 pounds at or on the C.G. would ever be noticeable in flight performance.  But, if safety is not an issue then every pound counts.

For American fliers, I've been using the Desser retreads for 30 or so years dating back to the first tire change on the Tripacer with excellent results.  A bit heavy but never a failure or a flat with 2200 flight hours.
