Another option you might consider is a header tank within a wing tank, whether outboard wing or stub wing. See http://www.n56ml.com for more, Wing Tanks, ninth link from the top. I put 1130 hours on N56ML, and highly recommend it. I never liked the idea of fuel in the cockpit.
