Here's my two cents worth on that. The blades that come with that prop
are designed to cover a large range, and sure....are adjustable in
pitch. If you were on a deserted island and could only get one UPS box
that floated up with a prop (especially if you didn't have to pay for
it), no brainer to use it. But I would argue that finding the prop that
was specifically designed for your speed, power level, and optimal tip
speed, somebody can make one for you. The downside is that it may take
a few iterations of $500-1000 prop tries to get it perfect, but once you
find it, my bet is that it will outperform the adjustable pitch prop.
And if you kill your perfect prop on the runway (been there, done that,
keep a spare on hand), you'll know exactly what to order.
Even the argument that you could get off the runway quicker with a
constant speed prop doesn't work with a KR, because the landing distance
is so much longer than the takeoff distance.
Having said all of this, I also have zero experience with it, but I've
talked to some people who do, and have done a lot of reading on it. I
do recall that one of these manufacturers has a checkered past for
reliability, so I would check on that also. It's worth mentioning that
I'm also the world's worst cheapskate, so this could be my subliminal
motivation.
There are several Warp Drive props flying on KRs (see
http://www.krnet.org/kr-info.html ), so maybe some of them will chime in.
