One concern in this discussion was "negative" numbers when using the
firewall as a datum. This is only an issue when doing W&B on a tri-gear
airplane as one scale is located in the opposite direction from the
datum as the other two. When doing a conventional gear aircraft and
,using the firewall for the datum, all scales are in the same direction
and no "negative" numbers are involved.
Bottom line, if you understand the process and do the math correctly,
your answer should always place your CG answer in the same location
regardless of the datum used. If that doesn't seem correct then you
probably don't understand the process. Seek help......................
