You have to be careful flying with Langford. He and I were in loose
formation on our way to Oshkosh several years ago. I was slightly in
the lead. As we were letting down for a gas stop the tower told me to
report at X location. Within a few seconds I heard a commuter report in
a location that would get us both to final at nearly the same time. I
informed the tower I would do a left 360 to provide spacing and let the
commuter go in number one. Mark apparently missed that conversation and
made a straight shot to final. At some point, maybe a half mile final,
I saw Mark flashing by me, a couple hundred feed below me as the tower
says "you're both cleared to land". Ah, the fun we have and live to
tell about it................
