And just a data point on having a balanced elevator, I've done 240 mph
(TAS) in N56ML, but that was with a balanced elevator. I wasn't just
out screwing around, I had flown over Huntsville's airspace at 10,500'
and needed to lose a lot of altitude to land at M38, so I just nosed it
over....as you've seen. Don't try this if you don't have a balanced
elevator, but Troy Petteway has had his KR2 at 230 mph straight and
level (with an O-200), and his elevator wasn't balanced. I don't recall
ever hearing of a KR having failed an elevator due to flutter. That
would be a structural failure....
