Hi All, I've been struggling to come to terms with the reliability issues common the VW conversions. It seems heat is the leading cause of many of these problems.
So.. What happened to the Great Plains Waterboxer? http://www.greatplainsas.com/bf2004.html <http://www.greatplainsas.com/bf2004.html> Looks a lot like the Rotax 912! These certainly make a lot of sense if as Bob Hoover states the heads have to pass ~83% of the motor heat (17% for the cylinders). You can find the heads new on eBay for ~$750. Any experience with waterboxers in aviation out there? Too much weight?
