You may be onto something because if you recall, when LSA/SP program was instituted, it was the driver license and self-certify medical, new class of aircraft, and liability relief for those new class of aircraft. This was supposed to stimulate low and slow daytime recreational flying, and be a stepping stone to bigger stuff for those interested with the easy upgrade of the SP license to full private. It also included the SLSA stuff and the 16 hour course for self maint of factory built LSA aircraft. So it wasnt just about the medical it was several aspects and designed to stimulate GA recreational flying. And I think it did that pretty well. Although the global economic crash three years into it slowed things down a bit, if you think about it. BasicMed will just add to the reform and I think improve the industry even more. It removes a hassle and some expense, and the education requirement will be a big help since everyone self certifies before each flight. _______________________________________________ Search the KRnet Archives at https://www.mail-archive.com/krnet@list.krnet.org/.
