There is no difference between a special issuance or a regular 3rd
class, when either one expires you can self certify under BasicMed.
That means you assess your health before flight. The class is now
available on AOPA web site as to how to best do that, and I'm sure
that everyone can learn something helpful from it. Of course you can
always continue to get a regular medical as well.
