Something I haven't heard anybody mention is that you are awarded the repairman's certificate during the signoff process, final inspection, or whatever you call it. So if an airworthiness certficate hasn't been issued for the plane yet, I don't think the repairman's certificate could have been issued either. Some of you "legal beagles" are welcome to correct me if I'm wrong about that, but I believe that's the way it works.
