Congratulations Willie, you are right, the KR is easy to fly compared to any
other plane that I have ever flown, but the list is limited. It has to be
the easiest conventional gear to fly that there is.

I am right behind you with 9.3 hours and 16 landings. I had hoped to break
the 1/4 to the 40 mark today, but had some surging on the last attempt to
take off and had to abort. I don't know what it was, but my guess is either
vapor lock, which I doubt, due to the fuel pumps and the cool weather, or
water in the fuel.

I had a great weekend, flying to Orangeburg on Friday, flying around on
Saturday for a photo shoot, and today, going to Pelion, which is our South
practice area. I attempted a stall and got down to where the nose was
starting to drop, which was at 60 MPH, so I am guessing that full stall
would be around 55. It was about 50 degrees out this morning and I could
maintain a 1000 FPM rate of climb at 90 mph. And best of all, I got 140 MPH
at 3400 RPM. That is the first time I have seen 3400 RPM and a steady speed
that high. I ran it in opposite directions just to be sure.

So, flew on Friday, no problems, several stops, take off and landings. Flew
Saturday, no problems, one take off and landing. Flew this morning no
problem, landed at Pelion, and no problems, came back to CUB, ate lunch,
took off and landed, no problem, then I taxiied down to the runway for
another take off, got the tail up, and just before lift off, the engine
started surging. I kept going after the first one, then two more surges and
I aborted. Tomorrow, I will take off the cowl and drain the fuel filter to
look for water.

Other than that, what a great time for flying KRs.

I am proud to announce that I have logged 10 hours on Shrek

So a word of comfort to all of you that are thinking of converting to a KR2 it
is really not as difficult to fly as everybody said.
