Lack of control would be the problem. Many aircraft have flown with the configuration you suggest but why even consider going backwards in time to something less desirable than what's available. The picture that comes to my mind of trying to steer my KR with brakes is not a pretty one and I've got decent Cleveland disk brakes. Larry Flesner
