If you ever wanted to place your plane in an enclosed trailer for hauling or 
storage, you would be disappointed to find that the longer spar prevented it 
from fitting in. You never know what you may want to do years down the road. 
Right now it may not matter but who knows.

Moving the WAFs further outboard would also decrease the amount of dihedral.
