Chris The best tool I have in my shop is a Horizontal / Vertical Band saw. If I remove the normal working table, it folds down into a power Horizontal (hacksaw) bandsaw. see below http://www.use-enco.com/Machinery/137-3150.pdf
My unit is a china type cheapy but works well.( does not even have a brand name on it) I cut all my 4130 WAF's as well as all other parts as well as wood. You can go to saw Doctor type shop and get any type of blade made up for it, wood or metal. I got my V/ band saw from one of those cheap tool shops. 1 inch C section I would just cut with a hand hacksaw. But I also use a 4 inch and 9 inch angle grinder.
