Peter,
I have the tension springs on my rudder pedals connected from the pedal to the 
firewall. I have 56.2 flying hours with this set up and have had no problems. 
The springs keep the cables just taught enough to compensate for any cable 
stretch which might occur and also will center the rudder if you remove your 
feet from the pedals (of course air pressure would center the rudder on the 
pulley run around system). Personally, I prefer this over the pulley run around 
system. It is your choice.
