I do agree. This aircraft has flown safely for 400 hours and eight years.
I'm happy with it. But if I want to go flying, I will have to make my
airworthiness authorities happy too. I can satisfy myself with mirror
inspections. I even own a (cheap) borescope, so there is little I cannot
make sure of by myself. But they are like St Thomas: they believe only
what they can see. And what they see now is control cables whose diameter
is too small.

My KR2 has been built with little consideration for inspectability and
removability. I do not believe in complications either, nor in extra
weight, but If I was to build a KR2 , I would probably take great care to
make at least all hinges bolts fully accessible. And I would try to make
it uncomplicated.

Guys:
There is another consideration, if you think that you will need to
replace a cable do it right the first time. If you need to inspect it you

probably can see what you need to see with a mirror probe and a look
through
the tail section openings. Too much complication is unnecessary on this
little bird (personal view), and we could just go flying. If you discover

at an annual that you need to get in there( the back end of the plane) cut
a
hole then and make the repairs needed and seal it up after, until the next

time, ( probably years away).
The old rule is make it light, keep it simple, fly it high and fast,
smile.
Best regards
Jim
