I had an oval shaped one on one side only about 6" tall and 8" wide. It was
about evan at the front with the front of the stab. It worked good and I
could get to everything I needed to.

Subject: KR> Inspection hatch, tail section

I will have to make one or several inspection hatches on my tail section,
for the following reasons:
1 - I need to replace the elevator cables;
2 - I need to remove the tail wheel spring;
3 - I need to be able to inspect the rudder and elevator hinges nuts.

The more I think of it, the more I end up thinking that one large hole
each side will serve my purpose better than three or four tiny ones. If I
make these holes under the horizontal stabilizer, I will probably be able
to do everything except replacing the top elevator cable.

Has anybody been there, done that already?
How big can I make that hole?
Where should I drill the hole?
I was thinking of maybe 120mm (4.75") opening, right in the middle of the
compartment.

Any idea for the top elevator cable?
