You asked: The valves were adjusted and the engine

ran great. My Question to all of you is will this be a recurring problem or
is

this a one time thing?

If you have a VW engine, yes it is a recurring thing that you have to tend
to. However, it is not a problem, it just is one of the issues with a VW.
You have to regularly check and adjust the valves. There are many books on
the subject, but you can probably find some information on
http://greatplainsas.com and order a manual from the same place. It is an
easy task that is key to continued good service from a VW.

Or, you can install a hydraulic valve kit. Some people like them, some
people don't.
