Hi all,

Well after 10 hours running (and not getting into the air) my Hirth F30U packed
it in. The crankshaft is &*(%^* stuffed. (sorry for the bad language). A new
crank is worth AU$3000 + dollars plus gaskets, bearings, etc.

There are extenuating circumstances which I won't air here. But the main
problem is that Hirth could not help with my initial problem (running rough
after getting hot), so I pulled down the engine on a fact find mission. The
next problem is I've can't find a satisfied Hirth owner (let alone one with the
same engine as I have), every one I've talked to has a complaint.

So I'm thinking of scrapping the Hirth and putting in a Jabiru 85hp @ 60kg or
120hp @ 81kg. My Hirth is/was 92hp @ 52kg.
The smaller engine is preferable as the weight will be easier to deal with, But
we all want HORSEPOWER.

1. Is 120hp to much for a standard KR2?
2. Is 85hp to little for a standard KR2?
3. What hp is recommended for a standard KR2? (the Rand Robinson Engineering
web page recommends a VW 2100, what hp is that?)

Extremely Frustrated :-(
