I would be interested to know what, if any, modifications your KR has that
might be responsible for its better than average stability?

Ken,
I have a stock KR-2S and the modification I've just completed was a spanwise
extension of the stock horizontal stabilizer.
The extension is 15cm(6in) on either side.
I've noticed this mod on an Austrian KR-2 build in 1986. His KR-2 is a single
seat because he could not get the stability the authorities wanted. However
with the tailvolume increase he managed to get within stability criteria as a
single seater.
I have experimented with foam and tape before glassing the extensions in place.

The result is a trimable KR-2S. My KR now holds trimmed speeds just as Jeff
describes.
Flying old-fashioned and not being able to afford a fancy GPS a hands-off
airplane is easier to navigate with charts....

Cheers

Jeff,

I would be interested to know what, if any, modifications your KR has that
might be responsible for its better than average stability? Is it a KR2 or
2S? Where was your CG vs the aft face of the forward spar (or some other
reference) during the recent "hands off" stability check?

Thanks,

Ken Jones
